Why Resolutions SUCK | 3 reasons why people fail their resolutions
Updated: Jan 21, 2020
I am going to share with you why I think New Year's resolutions suck and what you can do instead
Have you ever set a new year's resolution? Maybe it was to keep to a certain diet, work out, lose weight, pay off the debt. Whatever it was, did you do it? My guess is probably not.
There are a few BIG reasons why resolutions don’t work.
One - they aren’t specific. A common resolution is to lose weight. But what does that even mean? How much weight? How do you plan on losing it? In order to accomplish something, you need to first know specifically what it is
Two - it has no deadline. If you want to lose weight, when do you want to lose it? Next year? 90 days? Before summer break? Having a set deadline gives you something to work towards.
Three - the name implies that improving yourself can only be done in January. New year's resolutions are done once a year and if you fail, well there is always next year. But this is a terrible way of looking at personal development. We should be constantly reviewing and improving ourselves THROUGHOUT the year. Not just in January.
So what can we do about it?
